The header wrap you're seeing was originally meant to help keep heat in the pipe, which improves exhaust scavenging (mainly in 2 strokes, but is also helpful in 4 strokes). It's not there for rain protection (and can actually cause the pipes to rust due to moisture retention), but mainly for looks (and sometimes to dress up pipes that have pitted chrome, or scratches). The wrap gets soaked in water before fitting it, and is held on each end with either stainless steel clamps (the fancy new way), or with safety wire (the cooler old way). Header wrap can be purchased at any auto parts store, or from many online shops.

I wasn't talking about the wrap, I saw somewhere, cant find the pic on here now but the pipes went up vertically at the back of the back there was a hinged end cap on each pipe.

Ahhh... An exhaust flapper. Any good farm store will have a selection, as will a tractor dealership. Keep in mind that they do effect backpressure somewhat, as the exhaust gasses are what causes the flapper to open. They also clatter, which isn't an issue on a tractor, but you might not like the noise on your motorcycle. You can see the clamping bolt in that pic, along the lower radius of the flapper.

It's a unique look for sure I had just never seen anyone with those on their exhaust.

You guys are lucky....I live in Washington state and apparently it's not legal to mount your license plate sideways....so my choices for a nice looking mount on my future bob will be not as appealing i think lol

even though it's not legal here in Washington, I have seen people do it. sure you may not get pulled over for it, unless an officer decides he needs probable cause just to hassle you.

they made the side plate legal here in PA last year IF you get a special plate that has the letters and numbers sideways. letters and numbers horizontal but plate vertical. i think it's about 30$ extra, anything for money

Most header manufacturers won't warranty their product if you wrap them but i guess it has less or no effect on stainless.......who'd wrap stainless though lol
