Thanks guys, I put cb750 carbs on an xj750. I went approximately 4 miles, bike quit, pushed it back 2 miles, and put on my CV carbs.

I now have a rigid Sportster and Shovelhead.

We don't use that word here, but if it means smart, intelligent & a seeker of truth, then you're bang on.

How do the gs750 carbs work on the xj650? I found the same set and was wondering if it was healthy for the bike to run the gs750 carbs on it. Is it good to slap on and drive?

My 82 xj650 carbs and all sorts of f***ed. I found this guy selling gs750 carbs on kijiji he states “plug and play” . If I were to buy those would it be fine to run how it comes?

The spacing of the carbs is likely to be different so they probably don't fit. I'm guessing here.
Rebuilding your carbs is the best path to take.

Do you know where I can find a rebuilt kit with the flouts and all that so I don’t have to do flout hight and stuff

just send a private message to @chacal here on the forum for any parts you may need.
Best to strip your carbs down 1st to determine what is needed.
You will need to set float heights regardless if you are replacing parts or reusing existing.

New floats does not mean no float height adjustment needed. Floats always need to be tweaked to get the right fuel levels. Most all of a carb can be cleaned, at least the metal body and jets. Other parts like the diaphragms, throttle shaft seals and fuel o-rings can be replaced.

Oh ok gotcha. I’m not sure what I’ll need the bike runs but the carbs leak when I turn the gas on. And #4 carburetor isn’t working. I took it apart but the 4th one had a broken slide

Leakage could be from gaskets, o-rings, float needles not seating. How is #4 slide broken?

Top of the needle the screw that keeps it in snapped right off so there’s nothing keeping it down. I think one of the floats is blocked by the gasket and it’s not closing. I’m gunna take it apart when I get home from work and check it out. Thing is I don’t know how to sync them enough for there to be enough gas for it to be able to rev. I open the throttle and nothing happens just keeps idling I’ve checked for kinks in the throttle cable and for the slides to open everything’s good just won’t rev

Does anyone know how the Murray carbs are? Just seen an Instagram add saying they have xj carbs. Wondering if anybody is running them

Was it a pretty straightforward swap? I see they ask about your exhaust but it doesnt seem to ask about elevation.

They tune it before they send it to you so put whatever exhaust you have select it then tell them the information they ask for. The switch over is pretty easy if you’ve ever taken carbs off of ur bike and installed them before. The throttle cable it comes with you’ll have to take the one you have and put the one they give you. It’s already pre jetted for ur bike so it’s slap on and play

I see a recent post referencing "Murray" carbs. What are Murray carbs? Are they rebuilt stock carbs? Are they an aftermarket brand of replacement carburetor?
