I have been experiencing heavy hesitation in engine performance after riding a short distance and engine warms up. I checked the plugs and they all have carbon deposits all over the electrodes and tips.
What might be the primary cause for this to happen? My battery is on its last leg and have ordered a new one as well as new alternator brushes.

Just wondering if anyone has experienced the same with their '81 550 Seca.

You are running to rich. Caused by dirty or clogged air filter, carb problems like choke sticking. Have you done any modifications to the bike, new exhaust or intake setup?
