No problem if you like I'll take it off your hands, just drive it to Vancouver and leave it with me :) . Of course I'll pay you for it but with a problem like that it'll have to be cheap ;)

Take the pads out push the cylinders into the caliper, put silicon goo on the back of the pads carefully put them back in, work the brake lever till it's firm, tie the lever to the grip and let sit overnight. And yes have the correct shims as well, no more noises. As they say ..worked for me. My pin holes are slightly ovaled as well.

Also chck the fender. Steel fenders can crack, and then they rattle.

Mine is plastic, it was cracked , I fixed it two years ago.

I tightened all bolts and nuts of the fender and fork brace, one was a bit loose.

    No change, still rattles.

I'M tempted to put homemade shims as a test and temporary fix. If the rattle stops, I would order two shims with other rear brake parts. Or try the silicone goo trick.

WHat kind of silicone would you recommend for that use? I have a tube Dynatex black RTV silicone I used for the valve cover basket, is that good enough for that? I'm concerned with high temperatures.

Xj900 fenders are plastic...... Same for the 750rl. There are other fenders that will also fit.

I've always used either the hi-temp red stuff, or Hylomar.
