My clutch seems to be dragging a little on my 750. At low speeds (around 5 mph) giving some throttle makes the bike move forward ever so slightly. Its difficult to roll the bike backwards when off without it being in neutral. And finally, high RPM shifts are difficult. Many time the shifter feels like it is kicking back. I always pull the clutch for shifts and ease up on the throttle.

Ive messed with the cable, and even if I tighten it up considerably the clutch drag still happens.

I have a 550, and it doesn't have these symptoms.

What do you all think is broke?

It would be useful if someone posted a picture of the push lever assy at the clutch housing for what is the correct position of the lever.
On mine it seems that the PO has located this one so far back that the control cable is rubbing against the lower part of the airbox.

I noticed that the bike would "pull" itself forward even though the clutch was all the way in when in 1st gear after I had tightened the throttle cable at the handle, but once I eased up on it, the pulling stopped. On my bike now is a 2mm slack on the throttle handle. Works for me.
    Might wanna check it out.

It appears to have been, and thus the PO has loosened it at the "other" end.

i don't know jack about clutches - with that said, if it's not the cable, my theory would be it either has something to do with your oil or maybe the clutch overheated and one (or more) of the plates is (are) warped??

How old is the cable? If adjustments are not helping
change it (if old,). There only about $15.00 at
the parts store and some bicycle shops can make one up
    as well.
It's a good place to start and if you did need to put in a new
clutch you might as well have a new cable too.
