Clutch job.

Finally got the clutch springs changed on my bike tonight.
I switched to KG Clutch Factory High performance clutch springs. They claim to be 20% stronger than original equipment. PART# KGS-043
Clutch is operating smoothly (haven't rode on them yet) but noticed that the pull on the handle is about twice as hard as before. The old springs did not measure up to proper length when I noticed a slip. Everything else did. I feel that I might be running into some more clutch cable breakage problems with their strength.
Two questions:
Is it normal for the clutch to be harder to pull?
Is their a way to lighten the pull without affecting the clutch itself? I do a LOT of city stop and go traffic and can forsee a lot of hand fatique coming my way.

 

Normal for a heavy duty clutch. Best be getting your hand exercise spring out. It will take a while for the new assembly to bed in and get a little softer, but don't expect it to get too soft.

 

Extend your handle bars and get a longer clutch lever

 

You can fabricate a longer arm on the clutch pivot where the cable attaches at the crankcase to give you more leverage. You will have a longer, but easier pull.

 

I rode on it all day today to bed it. It has loosened up a good bit already. I am actually a little more comfortable with it's stiffer pull now. It seems as thought I am feathering the clutch a little better wich is reulting in better control for me. I did however learn a valuable lesson. Glue your grips on when you change them. Mine rotated and caused me to lurch stall today. Can't wiat to see how long the clutch cable lasts under the new load.
