Some people are hardcore and not afraid to travel late—- Alicia and John got home at 2:30AM, and Mike got home at 4AM. Jeff comes in 3rd with getting home at midnight.

I just like to have people text when they get home.... just peace of mind knowing people are home safe.

Well, it was another good Carb Clinic..... the weather kept some people away, other events got in the way for some, but it was still a success.

It must take more than a hard soaking, full on downpour to keep me away. Unfortunately that hard soaking, full on downpour went through my boots and supposed waterproof bike jacket. Good thing I was just a few miles from Dave's when it hit me. Most everything went into the dryer, including my sleeping bag.

SPECIAL THANKS go out to those who graciously donate door prizes to the CNYCC each year. This year, these are the supporting companies, the prizes, and the winners:

    Gates-Cole Insurance Company
-donated a big bag of small goods for everyone to pick and choose from.

    NAPA
    - 2 cans of SeaFoam
    4th prize - Jeff Martin
    3rd prize - Alicia Howard
    Jeff seafoam NAPA

    XJ4EVER - Len Chacal
2nd prize - Spin-on oil filter kit - black finish
    Winner, Huntchuks

1st prize - Spin-on oil filter kit - chrome finish
Winner, John (can’t remember his last name). John is also joining the XJ700 ranks with a 1986 XJ700s that was willed to him by our longtime member Ken Howard who passed away a year and a half ago, after fight a hard fight to show pancreatic cancer who's REALLY the boss. It eventually won, But Ken showed people how to rage against it and not let it stop him. His black 650 maxim “LUCY” is now the one that his wife Alicia has. John will be getting “Ruby” as soon as she’s freshened up. Im happy both of them won something.... it’s not something I orchestrate- name are written don in pieces of paper, folded up, and shaken up in a bag. Then we draw.

The weather tried to be a deterrent- a few stayed away, but it’s “Rain or Shine”..... we’ll accomplish SOMETHING......We had a good day, and the rain stayed away for the daytime hours (except for Dan, but that was only while traveling.......)

Now, everything is put away, and the Inspector (well, his sister is now the official INSPECTOR) says everything looks good, and I’m allowed to start planning for next year.

Fantastic. Going to make it one of these years, I swear.

Ken's name is really familiar, but his passing must have happened in my away times. Very sad to hear. Glad his bikes are staying in 'the family.'

You, sir, are a good egg.

Ken was a long-time member of the Lehigh Valley Carb Clinic, I’ve known him for as long as I’ve been holding my own CC...... and he was a member here for years, too.

Long story short, several years back he and his wife were on their way up for a CNYCC, and the trailer broke down. They got everything back home after an ordeal, but a ‘pulled muscle’ that wouldn’t heal back up turned out to be Stage 3-4 Pancreatic Cancer. If it weren’t for THAT trip and breaking down, he would have been gone...... he was given a few months, and “some agressive treatment might add a bit”. He fought it, the following summer he missed CNYCC as he was in surgery..... the following two summers he was in attendance! He passed several months later. He turned a 4 month prognosis into almost 4 years, and he didn’t let it stop him from ANYTHING during that time.

Ok, looking forward—— would love to have you show up! Next year is scheduled for June 7, 2025..... start your planning now;)

That story definitely rings some bells. What a fighter.

And unfortunately that's the same weekend as an annual family camping trip. Choices will have to be made.
