Well, one supposedly RAN...... There's so many problems with the ad and the pic, I'd only offer a little bit anyway....... Cuz he's only gonna scrap them anyway if they don't sell

Nope, you're screwed, there's no helping in these parts, this entire forum just exists to 2nd-guess people decisions, plus some cat porn (go ahead, you'll find it in the last place you'd expect).

If you read the ad, he clearly states that he does not need help selling, yet you posted his ad here? He asked that no one help him, he wants to do this on his own, so step back and let him grow as a Craigslist seller.

He did not ask that no one help, nor did he state that he wants to do it on his own...... He simply stated " don't need help selling.".

Besides, I don't think Polock was trying to help sell it. I think he was pointing a bike that is for sale.

For all I know, "don't need help selling" could mean ' I don't want anyone to actually tell anyone about this listing cuz I don't really intend to sell it in the first place unless some sucker comes along and pays this much'

I'd say if you're looking seriously for a bike PROJECT, then right here is the best place to look and ask..... Not at local shops unless its just to see if they have "any old yamahas that they just want to get rid of".

I have scored the following doing just that:
    1980 xj650-- $200
    1978 gold wing 1000--$400
    1984/5 v-max - $800
Same shop told me about a couple others:
    Xs400rj Seca - $250
    2002 vmax - $1800

I'd feel more comfortable picking up a cheap Xj needing work, that a shop didnt do anything to --- other than take in on trade, than paying a whole lot more for one that they supposedly have "already to go" at a much higher price. Simply, if I do the work, I KNOW what got done.

And that is how I ended up with a 650rj and a 550rj on my driveway... I have paid for lots of parts and pieces but got he original seca for free and the 550 for $300.

I think the tank stickers would not make it out of the dealer's driveway :)
Would go all black with this ride for sure. Looks fast enough for me.

You should pull up a pic of an Unmodified 650rj.... See it in silver, look at ecologito's black one though-------

No doubt, I really dig the unmodified XJ650RJ - for sure! I first was turned off by the seat on 'Xj Frankenbike' when I saw it posted first last year. but at certain angles and in person, it was not offensive, to me anyways. Still on radar, as are other XJ's. Although I've taken a breather past few weeks. Really just want to get ready for the march thaw. Not going to put on a ton of miles, but need a ride.
