Hello, I've been working on ignition problems on my 1993 XJ600 seca. Had the coils tested, found to be ok, tried 2 different ignition boxes, spark plugs are new, and still the 2 and 3 cylinders don't fire. If anyone has an idea on what it could be, please let me know.

Did you check the resistance on the plug wires? Are you getting spark? Why don't you think its the carbs?

Tested the coils myself and had RJ sport and cycle test them, coils are good. About a month or 2 ago I paid a shop to overhaul and sync the carbs. It ran great untill a wire that ran from the fuse box was came loose at the fuse box itself, and was causing it to run on 2 cylinders. I plugged the wire back in so it seat properly and now continues to run on 2 cylinders.

Swap the Coil "Plug-in" to the Wiring Harness and see if the 2/3 Holes fire and the 1/4 Holes miss.
    Yes. Bad Coil.
No. Ignition related troubleshooting to do.

Before swapping the Coil Plug-in's ...
Physically inspect every cm of the Ignition Pick-up Coil Wires going to their Plug-in for anything that would cause a short.

Sometimes the Shifter Case is removed and the Pick-up Coil Wire severed or shorted.

I think if you swap the coil plug in's (white connectors behind the coils) you'll have to swap the plug wires from 1/4 to 2/3 and vice versa. If the motors cold you'll know by keeping your hand on the headers and seeing which are warming up. Real quick test. Let us know

Check the resistance of the plug caps on 2/3. My 1/2 where fine but 2/3 the resistance was so hi I couldn't even see the spark.

    No.
When you SWAP Coil Plug-in's ... you DO NOT Swap Spark Plug Wires.
The whole idea is to Test the Coil making the opposite two Cylinders fire.
