Make sure your battery is not low on water, and get a reading of charging voltage at idle (I'm assuming this is at idle?).

Aside from a direct electrical short, it would seem it's not generating enough juice to supply the coils when you add an additional electrical load...discharging voltage reg/rec could do that, as well as a dry or shorted battery.

You might be right "On-the edge" of what your Electrical Systems can handle.

As mentioned, ... see to it that you Battery is Topped-up.
    Use Distilled Water.

Fully Charge the Battery and have its "Cranking Amps" Tested.
    The Battery might be beat.

Pull the Alternator Cover and Measure the Alternator Brushes.
    10mm or shorter ... Replace.

Fuse Panel Can't Handle it anymore.
If you have an Original Fuse Panel, ... Get rid of it.
Wire in a Modern Fuse Panel with New Connections. (Solder is Best)

    Wiring Issue?
Maybe there's something not Plugged-in to what it SHOULD be Plugedinto in the Headlight Bucket. (Not likely, ... but, something to check).
