BEWARE!!! These are not stock Yamaha equipment! You surely are playing with fire trying to out think the engineers at Yamaha. Your probably going to get into the nightmare of carb issues, probably need to rejet. I'd suggest keeping the bike in it's intended configuration.

My local harley shop has a "swap meet", and it is confirmed by a VERY knowledgeable source that they will resell parts that aren't picked up by the customer.

My dad's harley is one that wasn't picked up by the customer, talk about cheap! If my dad bought a Harley you know it's a good deal.

So your dad bought a Harley that was paid for but wasn't picked up by a customer?

Who in hell buys a bike then doesn't pick it up??

The Harley Sportster Silencers aren't for me.
    Are you kidding me?

I'd mine ore for raw materials to be used in making genuine parts before hanging a Harley Part on my YAMAHA.

Back to Gator8's question...does anyone know the actual od and id dimensions. I have stalled on my project due to time..but before cutting up my exhaust and then buying pipes..does anyone actually know the dimensions of the stock pipes. This way I can buy pipes then commence the destruction. I almost wanna say the fat boy mufflers I put on slipped right over the stock pipes on my 7oo. I just removed the OE mufflers and slipped the fat boys right on over the pipe..and I almost wanna say it was 1 3/4 id on those Harley pipes...could be mistaken though.. anyone?

Assuming your dealers down south are the same as up here he is not yanking your chain.
I work for a multi line dealer and all of our brands have told us that take offs are not for re-sale. Officially they are to be destroyed if the customer does not want his stock parts. Same with insurance jobs.. Though my bike is at least 20% other bike take offs... so the rules are bent sometimes...

Best luck for the public is custom shops. They have no dealer agreement and see all kind of stock parts going to the dumpster...

    Cheers
    Dave

Actually the Harley mufflers are alot better quality than the OEM mufflers that come on these bike by far. The chrome is very good quality also. I don't think you will have to worry about them rusting out for a long time.
The inside diameter of my mufflers (Harley) is 1-3/4" and fit right onto the stock collector.
