I'm wanting to do a leak down test on my 1980 xj650 but there is only one mark for TDC which the manual says is for cylinders 1 & 4. For testing cylinders 2 & 3 do I just eyeball it and line up the "T" mark exactly opposite the mark or is there a trick to it?

old school, is , remove plugs, rotate engine with spanner on crank bolt, till piston is nearly at TDC, get a pencil and put it down the plug hole till it rests on the piston, then slowly rotate crank until pencil stops rising, dont drop it though:eek:
