    Fitz!

It's about time that you get started on that! LOL

I bet Eco is watching this thread as closely as I am now......LOL

Maybe all three of us should do our 650 seca's to perfection and show up at a carb clinic with all three of them at the same time! Oh, wait.....that might cause some heart attacks. :)

Ok, the Power Lock..chain lock..., whatever you want to call it-----It's a security chain. It can either be looped through the rim to prevent someone from riding away with it, or it can be wrapped around a telephone pole, or stree sign pole, etc...... to prevent theft. The one end of it fits on the stud, and is opened with the key. the other end is bolted to the bike fram and is not easy to reach to remove.

All of the 650 maxims that I have ever had have them, my 650 seca has it, I believe the 750 maxim that I have has one, but my 700 airhead and 700X do not, nor any of the 900's. I can't remember if the 550's had them or not....seems I remember them being on there.

For the 550 Seca, the "zippy-pouch" in the tail section was the home for the power lock. I believe it came in the 550 Max's tail "trunk" too.

Sorry to bring it back up but the power lock on my Xj750mk saved it from being stolen last week. had parked it to go get some thing in a store someone ran in and said someone was trying to roll it onto a trailer. i had it wrapped through the tire and around a poll. like my manual showed. glad they didnt have chain cutters. sent 2 guys to jail. and just a little damage to paint on the rim. Just thought id throw that out there. i knew it was a shady neighborhood but damn not even 5 minutes after parking

So, when are showing up on our 650s? Oh wait they need to be road ready but that would be awesome!

Today I had a few minutes to set the floats and only had time to test once, all of them are set at the same height but they were 5mm below the edge of the bowl so I need to raise the level 2 mm on all of them to make sure that they are spot on.

After this I need to work on the petrooster and move on to the brakes... still a long ways but moving, slowly but surely, like turbo:

Mine gets locked everyday. Had brand new 2007 Honda 600 with 3000 miles on it. Only 6 weeks old STOLEN in broad daylight from my workplace. Got only Motor back 4 years from chop shop. Then the tow yard wanted $300.00 from me so I could take possession of motor. Let them keep it. Got XJ.

    "Petrorooster" is brilliant!

The auto-censor doesn't care, and we all know what it means.

Pure Genius. I knew we kept the Dragon Warrior around for a reason.

Now that, I like... But this is why we in the UK call it a fuel tap, we invented the swear filter lol

So Fitz, what about those pics of the engine guards you mentioned way back when the thread was shiny & new, did you ever manage to get them? Would like to see what they look like :?

Far from it. A certain winter-bound, bored UK member dragged up the thread from '09.

Work is progressing but it's far from shiny. Mechanical stuff first.

Nice bike. My 83 750 has the lock. I love the seat on this bike. I like the way you can slide back. I have the King/Queen seat and I'm stuck right up against the tank.

Yup, and for good reason. Well 2 good reasons it seems, my first reason of asking about the crash bar pics you mentioned (please?) :p

Second reason, to kick your butt into gear with the project 8O lol
