For Sale: Big Red, XJ900R

For Sale, 1983 XJ900R aka: Big Red. He has 28,400-ish miles. I got him last fall needing a starter and starter clutch. Otherwise running very nicely. I have replaced the offending parts, the starter clutch with a complete OEM unit and the starter with a Rick's Motorsports Electrics rebuilt unit. All fluids have been changed. The rear tire appears to have about 90% remaining and is a 2013 date code. A new front is on the way now and will be on as soon as I get it. He came to me with an unknown brand 4 into 1 header. The pipes are pretty good but the collector has surface rust. If he were going to be with me long term I would take to the Jet Hot coating people and get it done, about $200 but such things look great. All but 1 of the exhaust studs are in good shape, 1 appears to have been broken and tapped out to (I think) 3/8-16. It holds well and I have not attempted to fix that. The gas tank appears to have rusted thru at the left bottom and was patched with epoxy and what I think is POR-15 lining. That is good stuff, what I use on my keeper bikes. Big Red has a few scratches and a couple of repaired tabs but runs wonderfully. I would like to see $2000 for him. Delivery on the east coast is possible. thanks, John

Plus, just came in from putting a $200 alternator in my car, since it stopped functioning this morning---- lol

Did I mention Big Red has a brand new front tire and seat cover, valves adjusted and shims recorded and carbs vacuum sync'ed in the last 250 miles? He wears Koni shocks as well. Or that he runs just plain awesome? More pictures available if requested. Just tell me what you want to see.......

 

I know that I forgot to mention the re-wired and soldered in ATC fuse panel eliminating the glass fuses.......
