Alright, I've put everyone's name on a map and tried to make the best route possible with what I have been given. Please do not feel slighted if your area isn't included, some of us are...scattered...

    Lincoln, NE (alkasmeltzer)
    Omaha, NE(jonmarkosy)
    Kansas City, KS (Joe Decker)
    Columbia, MO
St. Louis, MO this leg from St Louis to Cincinnati is about the longest, does anyone know anyone in between?
    Cincinnati, OH (rob)
    Akron, OH (grutz)
    Pittsburgh, PA (Tim)
    Wilmington, DE (yamahamandk)
Baltimore, MD (Shane) from here to Raleigh is the second longest leg, it seemed like there were a lot of people in this thread volunteering but no emails to me so if you can help with this leg will you please e-mail me jonmarkosy@gmail.com
    Raleigh, NC

That is the tentative plan. A few of the guys who contribute a lot to this forum are in MI and I really wanted to include you but had no way to get from Kansas to you. It seems like Akron, OH would be a good spot for everyone up there to have a small meet, get pictures, sign the card, and be off. Let me know. Also, I really need people between St Louis, MO and Cincinnati, OH. Please please please lets find someone there.

I'm just a stone throw from Raleigh and can meet Shane to cut his ride down but I don't have my XJ anymore...if that matters. I'll help in anyway that is needed and will take off work to cover some serious pavement...got long legs....email sent.

I'm in Rochester, NY - I should be able to run Buffalo to Syracuse, or possibly somewhere through the Southern Tier down towards PA if it makes it up this way.

From St. Louis it can go north to the Chicago area, and then over into Michigan. From here into northern Ohio, then down to Cincinnati. There are enough of us in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio to make that work.

pm me if anyone can get it to South Haven or Benton Harbor with dates and times....

Fitz, can you get me the name of someone who can get it north from st louis? I want to make sure we have names and numbers for specific places so that the card doesn't sit somewhere until "someone" picks it up. There are a lot of you guys up north and as long as we can get it north I definitely agree that would be the best route. I haven't had anyone specific say they can do that route yet and the guy who is taking it to St Louis is already riding there from Kansas City.

Hmmm, I'm in Albuquerque, NM, and it seems that there is NOBODY around me except maybe someone in CA. My bike is also not tuned well enough to last long on the highway, I think, since I could grow some fouled plugs fast (I accidentally mixed up my carb pistons so the needles aren't necessarily set, and I need to adjust the idle screws as well :( )

If there are enough people surrounding me, maybe I could make a short range trip, and I'd love to do it for Bill.

In this card.. Are we supposed to sign it, date it, and write town/city and state? I'm in Franklinton NC and will like to be part of this. There are plenty of us here near the Raleigh area, but i'm not quite sure how or what i'm supposed to do. Isn't there a map site where everyone can post their locations to make this ralay more visual?

Ahh. Gotcha. Let me see what I can do; if we can't get St. Louis to Chicago covered, and you have to resort to "Plan A" then I will start a "Michigan Mafia" card and we'll have it catch up in Akron, if I have to take it down there myself.

Fitz, let me know. Hopefully we can start this on Sunday. I thought it would be nice if we all signed the card, and said where we were from. I was also thinking we could include a map on the card and we could all mark where we rode from.

Jon, SQLGuy is in the Co. Springs area which isn't too far from Albuquerque, NM. Maybe try to get ahold of him and see if he can meet someone from the Albuquerque area in Trinidad, CO and run it to the springs, someone from Denver meet him in the springs and run it to Denver and then someone else from the Denver area to North Platte where I can get it and bring it to the east coast of Nebraska to you. Just a couple of thoughts, you're still the ramrod on this one.

Email, PM, or post here with the plans. And like everyone else, I am limited to weekends, specifically Th, Fr, Sa and Su am.

Let me know. We'll make this happen!!!

I lived in Omaha 4 10 years, so I can meet you there pretty much anywhere, just tell me the location and I can find it.

You guys know USPS, UPS and Fed-EX will cover any long legs for us. Does seem to me like we're going to have more names than will fit on one card anyhow.

Next Sunday (Aug. 9) will be about the only weekend opportunity I have for an extended run. Fitz, you could talk me into a run to Akron and back then. Mom would probably even feed us since she lives there. Or maybe we could get grutz to meet is in the Norwalk area to shorten the day a bit. That area is a pretty nice ride too.

In fact, I'm in Jackson this weekend, if anyone from the West side of the state wants to bring a card to me I can pass it around to the Detroit guys. I'm going to PM my cell # to bigfitz, hopefully if something gets rolling he can pass it on.

I don't have the XJ anymore, but I'm awfully close to Springfield... Who was talking about getting it to springfield? And where would it go after that?

If I can be of help - let me know. This is a brilliant initiative.

On the east coast of Fl near the top and would be willing to connect with south/cental florida folk for a card from here. Could then hand it off to some GA folk or mail it to someone in NC

Just a thought Don. There's been some chatter in the NW Washington thread about a meetup somewhere out here. Maybe instead of one or two of us buzzing around the PNW, maybe we could pick a central location and have a meetup so everyone could sign the card in one place. Would that be easier? In any case let me know if I can help you out somehow. My new rear tire and brakes are installed now, so I'm good to roll.

I think it would be sweet if you guys up in the NW wanted to get together. I just don't see anyway for a rider to get from where you are, to the rest of us. Unless you could coordinate and get something together fast and get a card mailed to us, that we could then take from Nebraska east. Same thing with a couple of guys saying they are in Arizona and New Mexico. I wish we could all get together but there seems to be a lot of distance between some of us.

Also, here is my idea for a card. I thought if we put together something large, made out of card stock, with the XJbikes logo and "Get Well" or something along those lines on the front. The back of the card could be a map of the US where we could mark where we rode. Inside on the left side we will leave it blank so there is room for the pictures we take, maybe one picture for each hand off or meet that is set up along the way. Then we can all sign something on the right hand side. You can find large cardboard tubes used for mailing at any mail place, if you punch a hole at each end of the tube and attach a strap it could easily be carried on your back on a motorcycle. Also, I am willing to send my digital camera a long for the ride so that we have one form of media to take all the pictures, as long as someone at the end point can get the pictures printed off and attached to the card. It would also be nice to get the camera back at the end but I'm not really stressed about that.

I'm picking up the Grand Rapids to Metro Detroit area. I'm riding with one or two other riders. Here are my thoughts:

The originator of the relay should have a back pack to carry the cards and stuff in. This is something that can be passed off to the next rider. Perhaps mementos or thoughtful gifts could be placed in it. Also, the originator should get one of those disposable cameras (maybe a couple of them) to take pics along the way.

I have to work during the week, so only Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday are available for me to travel.

Gamuru, I would be glad to meet up with you. I work tonight - Sunday, Monday, Tuesday from 6:30 pm to 7:00 am. and I'm off the rest of the week. I know the XJ rider in Battleground personally and will be glad to get the card to him. I think there may be a rider or two down the gorge (just south of the gorge actually) and I would certainly be willing to meet up with him as well as anyone in the central Willamette Valley area.

Let me know and I can meet you anywhere it is convenient for you. I will PM you with my cell #.

Gregu, it looks like us West Coasties will be orchestrating our own card relay. I'm working on putting something together so stay tuned. The get-well card hopefully will be making it through your neck of the woods and will need to carried on farther south. Perhaps we can press you into service for that leg? I'll pm you a link to the thread when it's posted.

Can we get an update as to whether the card has started it's it's journey? Is it going to be one card or are there several making different journeys?
I will be meeting with whatever rider can take it from Chicago up into Michigan ( South Haven or Benton Harbor) and up to Grand Rapids to hand off to Madmaxim85...

I'm in the Portland OR area and, I know that I'm jumping on here kind of late but, my bike is still getting straight (I need a new rack of carbs). I would still like to meet up where ever and, sign a card for Bill if that's still possible. Some one send me a PM with a number and/or a time and place I'll do my best to be there. Bill helped me out as late as Friday the 24th and, countless times before that. If I don't hear from anyone in the next day or so, I'll start PM'ing some of the NW folks to get the info. From the moment that I first heard about the accident, Bill & his family have been in my prayers and, on my mind. Just makes you realize just how fragile we all are.

All you guys (and gals) that have responded to me/volunteered for a part in this leg, watch your email/PMs. I'm pulling together a summary of everyone's info and I'll get it out to you ASAP.

Chicago to Akron via Michigan is dialed in.
