So apparently the fairings are slightly different.
The angle in front is, mounting holes seem to line up.
According to a parts site, the nose fairing as well as the stay are the same for bother models. But still leaves the question what the difference is when looking at the 1000. Why would it fit there?

    So basically question is:
If nose fairing and stay are the same on both models as well as mounting points to the frame, where is the difference?
Only thing that could influence this setup is the angle the front stay is mounted. If titled, it would make up for the angled fairing.
    Head is spinning:)

    Resolved.
From all the fairings I had, I picked the one that did not fit. D'oh. Tried a different one and fit perfectly.
Had to swap out a bracket that was bent. Everything aligns (almost) now.
Gonna test fit it and take it off again to put heat shield on the inner sides.

Expecting a package from Len today who happened to know what petcock seal fits mine. After that, the tank will go on as well. Hopefully.

I am glad someone before me labeled the "gash tank" on the bike.

Ran into issue with petcock I had. Was leaking because that little disc inside was all messed up.
Had to entirely swap over petcock from old tank. All good now.
Here is as she sits now, only thing left are the side fairings (fitment and putting heat shield on). Plus a good cleanup afterwards.
Need to put the other subframe on at some point. Some brackets had been cut and welded back on which makes aligning everything a bit more difficult. Not so bad but still. Besides, there are some handels that were cut off. They are hidden under the rear covers but I assume they are so you can grab the bike there.

All in all a sharp looking bike, haven't even put the side fairing on to check it out...

Fairing is a super tight fit. Had to push the nose fairing forward to make the side fit. Now the turns are facing inwards a little because they are attached to frame and only stick out through hole in fairing, which moved.
I'll do the other side tomorrow. I also put the wheel stickers on, not sure yet if I like it or not (still need to finish front wheel)

Side fairings are still a tight fit but will spend more time trying to adjust. Need to come off for heat shield again anyway.

Looks nice! I actually like the white rim tape as an alternative to the white wheels.
How's it sound with the Kerker? Looks like the can could use a rebuild and polish.

Sound is actually really nice, has a nice deep rumble to it. A bit on the loud side, but not that bad.

And yes, still need to clean it up, was going to do it today. I'll give it a polish with steel wool. Worked well on my Xj.

Oil and filter change after 500 miles. Yucky.

Well, funny thing is now that the bike is fully dressed, I don't like it that much anymore. It's cool, for sure, but not as cool as it was before when naked. But it's too rare to turn into something different and my plan has always been to bring back to original. Which is pretty much done, except white wheels.

I am putting this up for sale, what the original idea was, and work on my 2nd FZR1000 that I have. That one is more common. I started to work on the spare engine that came with the bike and is apparently fairly new. Once bike is running, I disassemble again to get it painted and pretty much blacked out.
