    Not really; primarily because there are so many slightly different styles of calipers.

    When my '81 550R started doing it, it was only the "can't roll backwards" thing. Took a caliper and M/C rebuild to fix it.

    You need to rebuild your front brakes. The brakes on the 550s are bone-simple; getting the seal channels in the caliper clean will be the biggest challenge (except for maybe getting them bled afterward.)
