A few weeks ago I needed some parts for my Maxim and came across the website cheapcycleparts.com. They actually had all of the parts I was looking for and they were actually OEM parts, so I went ahead and ordered from them.

Soon after, I started getting calls on my cell phone from a telemarketer. So just as a heads up, this company sells our information to a really shady company that can actually charge your credit card without your consent, or after only getting a vague consent. This personally didn't happen to me, as I did some research on the weird phone number that was popping up on my phone, but I just thought I would let you guys know what I found out.

I wouldn't not recommend them for parts, although their shipping is kind of slow. Actually not the shipping, but the processing, and of course I wouldn't put my phone number on the order form.

    FOUL!

Just because a telemarketer phoned you after you did business with cheapcycleparts.com does not mean that they sold your info. Coincidences don't indicate causation.

And this really shady company can make charges to your credit card without consent didn't charge you? Why not? Your money not good enough for them?

I do quite a bit of business with cheapcycleparts.com. They don't seem to have sold any of my info.

Oh, no one has charged anything to my credit card I didn't authorize either.

Now, in most cases it takes about 10 business days to get parts from them. Do you really think they have your XJ parts sitting on the shelf waiting for your order? I've seen nothing tagged "IN STOCK". They have to order them from Yamaha, just like the dealer down the road. Only differences are you pay a lot less (assuming you're ordering enough to make the shipping worthwhile), you don't have to go to the dealer and it takes a few days longer.

Sometimes the OEM doesn't have the part on the shelf either. When that happens you could wait awhile.

You are a little slow. I was still recommending them, just warning not to put your phone number into their system. So you didn't need to go into a rant about their 10 day shipping. I have ordered and sold many things in the past, and I know that many items have to be ordered by the vendor then they ship it out when they receive it. I wasn't complaining about that. I was mentioning it.

Second. I know for a fact they are the only vendor that I have used my credit card for in conjunction with my phone number. As a matter of fact, it isn't even a credit card it is my Visa check card. And I never use it for anything unless I absolutely have to(and I haven't had to). I carry cash for gas and food. Believe it or not, that is all I have been buying for the past few months because I am on a mission to pay off my bills. The parts for my bike are the first thing I have purchased outside of food and gas since January, and that is only so I could save on gas to and from work riding the bike instead of my Blazer. I only used cheapcycleparts.com and I only have that card to use. There is no other plausible explanation for anyone else to have my cell phone number.

Do the research yourself. punch the number 866-280-4252 into Google and see what you get. The reason they didn't charge my card is because I told them they had the wrong number as soon as I answered the phone thanks to my research before hand. The other people that had their card charged were actually in a conversation with the crooks. I didn't let it get that far.

Again. cheapcycleparts.com IS THE ONLY POSSIBLE PLACE this could have happened at. Unless one of my brothers or sisters or one of my parents decided to sell my phone number to a telemarketer.

Telemarketers got the Cell Phone numbers for everybody at the end of April.
It was all over the news.

Lets call this a Jump Ball and let it rest.

    lies.

    Snopes knows all about it

I used to work for Cingular/AT&T and we had to deal with that crap constantly. No telemarketers have access to a national cell list, and as far as I've been able to tell, never will.

Snopes wont let me copy and paste for some reason, but about halfway down the page, it lists -A) Said cell-phone 411 list would be OPT-IN ONLY. and B) Said list is NOT to be included in print, for sale, OR TELEMARKETING SALES lists.

I'm so bloody sick of people bringing this crap up. It's been fake for the last 6 years why would it be real now.

Yes you do. And some things the OEM sellers don't have.

I actually am going to use you to buy some stuff. But in the case where I bought from them, their coils were $10 cheaper a piece and I had to buy both.

But that $20 you saved has cost you a lot in aggravation.......

And my shipping is a lot cheaper (FREE for orders over $100).

And I SURE don't take 10 days to ship a part out the door, for heaven's sake!

Even with your free shipping, I saved money. Trust me, I crunched the numbers before ordering. And I didn't suffer any aggravation. I saw a weird number, researched it, and averted some aggravation. I wanted to let other people know how to do the same.

And nobody ever stated it took 10 days to ship the parts. They estimate 10 to 13 days for your order to arrive to you.
