    Hello everyone, I found this site after recently becoming the new owner of an '86 Maxim XJ700X. I've turned wrenches on cars most of my life but never tinkered much with bikes, though I owned a Honda CB for a short time, many moons ago.

    I always kept an interest in motorcycles however, and recently learned about the Maxim X...history, limited production and performance. So when one came up for sale close by, I made the purchase. It was in decent shape but only running on two cylinders, and needed work but, fortunately, I scored a complete parts bike a few days ago to help with that endeavor.

    So this will be both an adventure and learning experience for me, and as you can imagine, I have plenty of questions, but I'm excited to get this rare bike road-worthy and taking cruises again that I used to enjoy so much.
