Hey XJers, I am scratching my head on this, and need some help if someone knows.

I have an 82 XJ650, with stock exhaust. I've changed my rear tire several times over the years, and always need an extra step to get the axle around the right side exhaust, but for the life of me can't remember the trick I've used.

I know I've never removed the exhaust itself. And I can't remember needing to disconnect the shocks, but maybe that was the method.

Maybe from before i bought it?

Everything is locked in as much as stock would be. The pipe bracket is still mounted to the rear peg bracket. Essentially it looks like any stock photo.
