Back in '09, I bought a '82 650 Maxim to flip. I ran a search on the computer and it guided me here. Bought a lot of parts and did a lot of maintanence. Kinda lost intrest in it and sold it. Now I have a chance to get another XJ so I'm back again. This time a 650 Seca. This one I may keep. We'll see.

We have recently picked up an 83 XJ750 Midnight Maxim for my wife to drive . ...Hopefully we can clear up the running issues and get it on the road again. I always liked this bike as I used to own an 83 Maxim 750 back in 87,88. The body position, low seat, and smoothness of the bike are the reasons we chose this one.
I am looking forward to getting familiar with the site and the guys here. I'm already amazed at the available info! Wow!
I 'googled 'the bike and found this site in the top listings.
    Thanks for hav'n me!

I don't think I ever answered this question. After over a year on this forum. Before I even bought the bike I did googled XJ650 Maxim this site was in my top hits. I did some reading decided it was a good buy and signed up the day the bike was delivered. For riding a 29 year old bike daily I find this site invaluable. I don't post often because I'm far from an expert. But I come here first sign or mysterious sound that might mean something is wrong. My limited posts are only a testament to how much info is already here just by doing a search.

Hi! I bought an '82 maxim 750 earlier this summer, I started a blog about it (Here), and someone who found my blog was kind enough to send me an invitation to this site. Thanks! There seems to be a ton of info on here.

    Greetings

There was a reference to the site - XJForum - in an ebay ad for Seca parts. Googled XJ forum and here I am. Joined 10/5.

I was searching for bikes on Kijiji. Every time I found a bike I "liked" I would look for rider reviews on it. I didn't know too much about the Maxim but something about the look of this motorcycle made me curious to find out some more. I searched using xj650 maxim reviews and a few sites later I ended up here. I spent a bunch of time reading all the members opinions and now I just recently joined, cause I bought the bike. :D

I was looking for a part on google and hoped I might find some advice as well. Happy to say I landed here, and I plan on staying. My 81XJ650H has been mine since last spring and I have been busy de-stupifying it.
Now I think my ignitor is quitting so I joined and placed a wanted ad. Would like one more ride before it gets cold for 6 months!!!!
I am nearly 60, ex firefighter and Yamaha Tech and medically retired recently. So now that I don't have money [SoSad Security] I need something to keep me busy. I have 2 more Yammers in the garage- an old MX100 for the grandkids, and my personal Raptor660r, complete with Yamaha only mods hehehe. I love roostin the kids! hahaha
ATV or dirtbike advice? Happy to help!
Nice place you have here- I hope I can contribute to it.

Like many I just "googled". I guess that is why the google owners make
    billions of $. It works.
When I get serious on a bike purchase, I will search the web for as much info I can find, maybe join a forum like this to pick some experts brains
about what to look for and go from there.
I am very close at the moment to buying my 1st xj.
Love the look and reputation of solid reliability. :)

All I have is a '83 Goldwing so I don't know how often I'll stop by here but it's nice to know this forum is here!

If you like ya'll are welcome over there also and join in on the discussions.

I'm now going through it and making it safe to ride and the amount of help and knowledge here is simply amazing!

I was given a "barn fresh" '82 Seca 650. I Googled "seca carb sinc" & the awsome paperclip, bench sinc, post came up. That was a few weeks ago. After reading most of the carb posts, I'm gonna tackle the carbs this weekend.

I found this forum probably a year ago. I had found a XJ650 Seca that I was looking at and while I was using Google to look for info on the bike (which would be my first non dirtbike) I came across XJ Bikes and subscribed to the newsletter. Didn't end up buying that bike, but kept reading the newsletter each day just because I found it interesting. Fast forward to now and I just found a 1982 XJ750 Seca with 20K on the clock. Got a screaming deal on it, and now she is sitting in my garage and is my daily commuter. I look forward to being more active on the forum now that I have a bike of my own.
