I bought an 82 750 Seca for my daughter and needed a good forum to help with repairs and all the little "unknowns" that come from a new bike, new brand, new model. I spent some time gooling for one and luckily hit this forum. Good information and respectful, knowledgeable people.

Bike is not yet on the road, but it now runs and should be a really fun bike when finished.

I googled "1985 Maxim 700" pictures and one of the pictures I checked out belonged to a member, so here I am!

Hi guys I googled for xj600N engine swap.
I have a very sick XJ600N, I also have a virago xv535 trike just coming up to being finished.
I love bikes, I'm 56 in june and have been messing about with bikes since I was about 11. We had a fairly large garden and I had a moped that I used to ride in it.
    Regards
    Dozer

I have owned many Yamaha bikes (XJ650,XJ750,XJ1100, 83 XV700 and 83 Virago 750) and now the 550. I bought it for $500 and a yard cleanup. I recently picked up this 1982 550 SECA with 14K in Portland, OR with an old Oregon plate with tags expired 6 years ago. I suppose it would be appropriate to go through the carbs. Rusty muffler on the left side eaten all the way through and near the start of the muffler, bad battery, seat "beat", dry-rotted tires. I have installed a gel battery and drained the smelly gas. The tank is clean inside and out . I got a dark yellow gas with a few drops of oily looking beads in it on carb Number 1 with a definate stench to it. What do ye'all think about just running fresh gas first to see if she'll speak to me kindly?

I'm a new member. Having just acquired a free '82 XJ650, I immediately googled "XJ650" to see what could be found. I'm a big fan of forums, and the endless knowledge and experience they can provide, so a forum just for XJs seemed to fit my situation perfectly.

Hey folks. Been a member here since last year, though I've been reading through the forums for over two. Picked up a Maxim for the old lady 3yrs ago and never put it on the road. figured we needed a good support group and this seems to be the place.

I wouldn't have bought my 650J if I didn't find this great forum. I didn't want to have to take the bike to a shop to get it worked on, and knowing that there was such a good community for xj's specifically really made up my mind. I couldn't be happier with my first bike and all the information that is available here.

    Thanks all!

I saw it on a yahoo search engine when looking about gear oil. I do have a question. Why does my profile say biker "wannabe" I`ve been riding for years now. I`m only asking, is it because I`m new to this site? if so thats okay then. Thanks and be safe out there.

I found this site after 15 hours on working on my bike's carbs with no success. I sure hope one of the master techs on this site can help me get it running great so I can enjoy the bike.
