Hi. I was told about this forum by a friend who is a member (XJJeff). It's good to know there are folks out there who have some idea what they're talking about when it comes to older bikes. Mine is a 1981 vintage. I've owned it for about three weeks. It runs fine, but has had very little done to it over the years so it will probably need some TLC.

Googled 1982 Yamaha XJ750J Maxim to find stock pix, to relocate front signals that were attached to a shield that was cut off. Want to remove remnants of fairing bar.

Ultimately search engine - Metacrawler (searches Google, Yahoo, MSN, and many others). I've been searching for XJ resources for a long time and finally found the greatest. :D I'm not sure exactly how I got here, but a metacrawler search on "Yamaha XJ650" brings up xjowners.com as #17 in results, which redirects here (mighty nice of Ed).

Google Search for XJ Forums. I was getting skeered there was no support, as it took a decent amount of term trying to find this site.

I'm a new owner (and rider) as of today. 1982 750 Seca. My dad was a BSA/AJS rider in the 50's, had a crated Norton in the garage while I was growing up (that I spent many a spare moment sitting on), and I've always wanted to make the move to two wheels. $4.00 gas and a 34 mile commute (1 way) sold my wife on it. Nice that the planets finally aligned. :)

Googling about looking for parts for the 81 Seca 550 that I found next to the road for $800 and it followed me home...was LOOKING FOR an XJ owners site (I helped found the Norton Owners here in MI) and found you folks. I'm impressed, especially by the expertise of your commentators (when they feel the need to intervene) so I joined.

Got linked here from the XJ group on Yahoo at some point in the past. I had just about given up on specialty groups after the Dodge Intrepid forums, half the topics there are about installing useless brainless dresser mods and spoilers. This place on the other hand is great!
