How do I get the air box out of a xj750 maxim

    LVSteve.....Yeah, you can lose control of a hot airgun if you're careless. However, I have removed three boxes, and put all three of them back in, using my hot airgun. No problems. I take it easy and carefully heat til the plastic just starts to give. I don't keep the gun on it the whole time,rather going back and forth, I'd describe it loosely as "spraypainting the heat on". Eventually enough layers of heat get on it that the plastic softens.

    I just put a used (eBay) airbox on my xj700 by pulling the starter motor (two bolts) and that right side cable assembly thingy (two allan head). I had to jostle it a bit. I refurbished it (the old airbox) a little with a file, some sand paper, and a blow torch, while I was at it. Just in case anybody cares, after seven years. . .
