    My 81 XJ650 Maxim goes at least 85. . . . Then the needle pegs :?

I just like getting it into the 'power band range' and love the adrenalin rush! :D

Fitz, you say this like it's a bad thing!!! I like being able to cruise at 55 in fourth/65 in 5th... and I'm just at the beginning of the powerband

Nope; but I do go faster than 85 with great regularity; it's nice to know how much faster I'm going. Plus by virtue of being brand new (NOS,) the speedo is actually reasonably accurate.

What I like the most is that now both needles are pretty much in the same physical position on the clocks at road speeds, like any properly-instrumented high-performance motor vehicle should be.

But it truly is an improvement to know how fast you're actually going if you're going over 85. Especially at night.

Best rule in the game. I even painted my Eldar red in an attempt to capatilize an a less than observent (and quite drunk) referee.

I've done a little work to My 82 750, stripped off everything not needed to Run. Modified a set of Pod's and installed them on the Factory Airbox Boot's. It has a Mack 4 into 1 into a 12" straight Pipe. Matched all the Intake Boot's perfectly to the Intake Port's. And She's Jetted out to #130. On a nice Cool Night it will make 60 between 3.5 and 3.8, and if My Speedo is Correct i got it to 126. But it felt like I was doing 150 lol, and I'm not really interested in taking it that high again. I Typically get out of it at around 100.
