What's this? Geico's handing out a mc license in a cereal box. D@mn, my wife and I have been with them for years and they didn't tell me. I had to take a msc to get my license. Geico gave me 10% off my insurance for taking the course.

U guys are terrible at reading... lets take half of what I said at twist my words..... im not afraid to admit rider error when I go down if thats what it truely is I have when down hundreds of times on the dirt. I know almost alll of them were rider error. But to say the only reason bikes go down is because of rider error is ignorant. Some situations just can not be corrected. As i said eariler i the post I did find a problem with the bike that I doubt many of u look for on ur bikes regularly or would have caught so yes you could say maintaince "could" have caught this but good maintaince dont mean ever mechanical failure will be caught. Any of u are welcome to come and inspect the bike first hand see the damage and what I believe failed and weather or not I maintain my bike untill then quit making ignorant assumptions like I cant handle sand or dont know how to ride or dont maintain my stuff unless u know me or my bike its completely unfair to assume. I have been riding mc since I was 6 I have plenty of two wheeled riding several mc trophys to prove I can handle my own on dirt and i still have two xjs in beautiful well maitained condition that any of u would be proud to own if u dont believe me come see any of it for your seld

Y'all wanna stand here having a p!$$!ng contest, or get back to reality!?!!?

Pull the cover and look, or throw the bike away..... I don't really care.

I don't care about your riding history, skill, ability, certification, etc.....

You made the post about giving up your bike because the back locked up.

So open it up and look, or don't.

    Nuff said........

I did open it up and look..... s cam froze up...... im not throwing it away I was offering it to other xjers because I have others and dont wanna fix this one it has lots of new parts that others could probably use and its not that banged up given the circumstances. But instead i have gotten nothing but personally atacked by most I didnt think the xj crowd was like this kinda why I liked owning them so much guess I was wrong

    Kyle,

We're all men and the hand full of women (no pun intended) on this site. As mentioned by another member I think this might be a case of "hurt pride" more than the accident. Learning to "agree to dis-agree" is a prerequisite to becoming a adult. You know what's wrong and how to fix it. Apply the clause and move on. You got this. And I quote,"nuff said".

This post seems to be getting a bit heated. Here's my take and my 2 cents worth.
Kyle has a bike he no longer wants regardless the reason. He was nice enough to offer it to members of this forum first.
A number of forum members wish him to keep it and are making suggestions of what is wrong and how to fix it. Since it's impossible to define the emotions behind the printed word, we are assigning emotions to them, right or wrong.
If Wisconsin weren't so far away, I'd come look at it. Maybe crack a few adult beverages, BS awhile, swap stories and lies. Besides, one man's junk is another man's treasure.

this has become my favorite post
I get that he just wants to get rid of what he feels is
    a cursed bike
but what is funnier is the madder Kyle gets the worse
    his spelling gets

the forum's biggest concern seems to be that it is
    bike neglect, or driver error

I just like to sit back and watch the fireworks

Kyle if you dont laugh at this it might consume you, please dont.
All was in fun obviously lots of us were bored. That said, we all have
Moments of uncertainty, and well the dumb ass moment, all that matters is that you know the truth we all shit happens, bike is old things go wrong.
Your safest way out, blame the pain killers.
Would sell anybody and someone here would love a parts bike, and will see the road again,or sell it to somebody who knows nothing. Either way always works out.

    Kyle,
    Donovan speaks wisely.
You appear to be very quick to lash out at people here.

You being in an accident sucks . . . But it was you that had the "accident", not anyone here - no one here should be cursed or called names.

Only a few things cause accidents:
    1- Mechanical issue
    2- Conditional/ environment issue
    3- Lack of training
    4- Shit happens

Reflect on this; blame the Percocet and beers for your bristly attitude and stop representing Cheeseheads as some other type of head.

Oh and find the spellcheck/ auto correct feature on your phone - who knows maybe you really are kind and gentle but you message isn't being received properly

    Quoting Kyle -

". . .Im an ase certified mechanic I maintain my stuff impeccably well . . .
    . . . I have riden since. I could walk . . .
. . .and just about nothing worked brakes, lights and all the cables were froze up. . . .
. . .Last winter I did a full over haul on the brakes stainless steel lines and all. . ."

The lesson - overlooking a minor detail (cleaning and lubing the rear brake linkage pivot points) can spell disaster.

Good to hear you weren't hurt any worse.

I'm still having a hard time believing that the rear brake cam seized up due to sand, even rare Wisconsin sand. Especially if the brakes were "fully overhauled" on this "impeccably maintained" specimen.

    Somethin' don't quite add up.

Rear brake cam seized do to oversight in maintaince and only caused a problem once I hit sand and the friction was reduced enough by sand that the tire locked causing bike to kick out I tried to bring it back up couldn't bring it to a controlled stop so I decided to put it down in the softer dirt

Did Kyle kick your dog or something? Why the suspicion and/or derision? I don't know the guy, fact is I don't know anybody here, but he has owned up to the fact that the problem which caused this wreck could very well have been the nut that connects the saddle to the handlebars, hell he even apologized for being a dick in a few posts.
Let it go, if I wanted drama I would follow Miley Cyrus on Twitter.

I was on pavement What I believe happened is when I braked before the corner the s cam hung up in the applied position on the clean pavement there was enough fricton to keep thetire rrolling but once I hit the sand the tire locked up. This is what I believe happened. I hope that is a little me clear? Sorry :(

Defently not the past. Not entertaining anymore. Like going to the zoo, a neglected 1 at that, visiting the tiger cage only to find a beyond starved tiger walking up to him and slapping him or her with a nice bloody tri tip and not giving it to him.

Reading this entire post has been interesting entertainment on a boring Friday night. Down right funny at times, and testy at other times. Someone needs to buy his "parts bike" and he can ride one of his others. I think he's done with this one.

Hope all of you have a great Memorial Day weekend. I'm going to bed.

My EIGHT YEAR OLD FJR developed a "rear brake drag", on a disk brake set-up.

I cured it with a spray of Kroil and some high quality cable lube - worked it in.

I should take it apart and lube it correctly, rather than rely on a "quickie-fix"

Kyle's bike had a similar problem. It wasn't "rider skill" , but maintenance oversight.

Everybody reading this thread should consider lubing their rear brake linkage, at least with Kroil, for now. (do it!!)

    KYLE YOU ROCK DUDE!!!

You take an unanticipated beating from a vintage Yamaha.

You get up from the dirt and immediately decide that the way to correct this wrongdoing is to offer to help out your pals at the forum.

But your fine gesture goes wrong?!?!
In the frenzy for parts, accident reports, carbs without broken posts, de-lamination confirmation, etc., etc.,...suddenly you find yourself struggling to avoid another brawl.

Well I take my hat off to you sir, your struggles have inspired me to get out of bed and get to work on that beast out on the patio.

In a time when there is so much injustice in the world you are a shining light for empathy.
In a time when money has taken the place of morals in our society your generosity is welcome.

And whether the brakes DID or DID NOT have anything to do with your accident is neither here nor there in the bigger picture.

    Or...as Johnny Cochran would say...

"If the shoe don't stick you muss acquit"

I think it was "If the glove don't fit, you must acquit." And I thought it was quoted from a juror. In any case, I still don't think they got it right.
