Bean, I didn't post this to add even more misery for you. Just wanted to provide a little more info for those who might think it's ok to ride after just one or two.

On a more positive note you are well on your way to getting the situation behind you. A little more time and money will cure this one for you.

Take care and keep looking forward. You've learned from this and will come out on the other side a better person for it.

Being a teenager I often go to partys with drinks that aren't legal for us. I usually don't drink at all and if I do I sleep in the back of my suv for a few hours until I'm certain I'm completly sober then I wait another hour just to be sure. Most of the time i volunteer to be the DD just because I don't want to attend a funeral. I showed this post to a friend and he finally gets it. Thanks for sharing

Well I finished with the weekend jail stint that feels really good,it was just a hassel going there.Beleive it or not I met some good guys like me just in a bad situation. My story seems to have been one of the more severe. There were 2 new guys that came in for my last weekend and they jsut couldn't beleive my story and or stupidity, hopefully they are greatful that things are not as bad for themselves. They couldn't believe how positive i am about my situation.I just told them that i came close to dying and i think that put things into prespective.Well things are starting to turn I guess, looks like I have the xj sold so that should be $1200 in the bank if all goes well.Didn't really want to sell but I will not be able to ride for another 16 or months.I have to move soon as well so I have to liten the load. Thanks to all for there kind words and support.John

Bean, glad to hear things are good now. Not sure if you moved, but SilverSeca will be cruising thru EPete later this afternoon. Let me know if you're up for a visit or maybe a burger at Chanceys?

Very interesting read here.I have driven my Bike from a bar a couple of times. The 2 guys I was with came with their car.On the way home we lined up at the lights and I was feeling good...I revved the Bike and wanted to burn rubber..yeah right..ended up that I squealed the tire and front end lifted up to much and I almost lost the Bike right there..stupid me.
But being sober on a Bike here is a challenge I'll tell you with all the idiots out there driving. In 1 day I have almost been rear ended twice by vehicles while I was stopped at a set of lights.Kind of obvious when they lock there brakes and slide to a stop behind me,had it in 1st in case I needed to move out fast.I will stick to riding mostly on Highways and stay away from City streets, especially Friday Nights 8O

    Another great thread.

My roommate and I share my bike. He's not a not a big drinker, but I'm going to reiterate to him that one beer = no riding.

Bean, I'm glad things are going well for you. Sometimes the hardest lessons are learned first hand.

I've been clean and sober for 13 years now, before that I had 7 dui's, and no one but myself was ever hurt. God watched out for me thats for sure. When I ride I get a high, its being on the bike on the road, a freedom only the few know. So I enjoy it sober, and I think I enjoy it more. Everybody makes mistakes, its learning from them that separate the men from the boys.

    Hey guys,

glad to hear im not the only one around here with a bit of a problem. The 21 will be 2 months for me. I grew up in a family that went to A.A every week and ive been to quite a few open house meetings my self. I started drinking way to young and decided to quit just in time. I always get much more drunk then I intend to and have done some stupid things (like piss in my fridge  as an example ). If you ever need a good read about alcohol, drugs, or just addiction in general, check out "The Heroin Diaries" by Nikki Sixx. And for the people who need to figure out how to "replace" their addiction, "This is Gonna Hurt" also by Sixx is one of the best books i have ever read in my life.

And Jeff, Im pretty sure my dad`s birthday is around the same day as yours and the exact same amount of time, just as long as ive been alive.

    Cheers guys :)
