lean popping?

    I have a lean pop on the left side cylinder. I checked it with a color tune plug and when it pops it turns from blue to white. It happens intermediately
    like pop......pop..pop....pop.....pop...at idle it is a bit less often then say a steady 3k in neutral. The white color is vary bright in the plug.

    What could do this? Carb is not right or carbine on piston bad intake valve, Valve needs to be shimmed?

    On 2 wheels... just lost my hat.
    run the bike under load at 4k RPM and just before you hit your driveway, pull the clutch and kill it at the same time. let it sit and have a look at the plugs. it will tell you what cylinder is lean and give an idea where to start to find the lean plugs.

    I am curious what his plugs read as well but it sounds like he's found the lean cylinder since the colortune plug was inserted into the one which was rapidly changing to white. Did you try backing the pilot mixture screw out a little and if so did it have any effect on the popping?

    THE PLUGS LOOK GOOD WHITE WITH SOME LIGHT BROWN. THEY ONLY HAVE ABOUT 100 MILES ON THEM. The ones that came out looked good as well.

    I did not make any adjustments to the carbs as of yet. I am still trying to figure out how to set up a fuel tank so I can run the thing and get to the needle valves. They are all set to 3.5 out after cleaning them. I will back that one out a bit more and see if that helps.

    I did adjust the carb and it cleared up! Thanks. I took it for a long ride and it ran great all day. On the was home I found a long straightaway and romped on it full throttle 2 3 4 gear and then let off and about 500 feet up the road It started to run like it was out of gas so I put it in reserve and it did not help. I limped up the road to a gas station and shut it off and checked the gas it had about 1/4 tank. I put it on prime and waited a minute and thought that should help. It did not seem to help much if any. I started out and limped the rest of the way home with the thing barely running and intermediately popping loudly and chugging along. I got it home and checked the spark and it was working on all 4.
    I hate this dam bike now.
