Stare circuit cut-off relay? Tried to google and tried the haynes manual but can't seem to find anything about it. The project bike i got was missing one so can't google a part number. Anything and everything electrical: CDI unit, reg/rec, fuse box, even the plastic board that the cdi and reg/rec attach to (all the tabs on mine are snapped off), wiring harness (mine has all sorts of plugs cut off and random bodge jobs all over), ignition coils, elbow connectors, flasher relay, starter switch (handlebar). Whoever had this bike before me did a real number on it.

Yeahhh, I think the main things would be starter circuit cut off relay and possibly flasher relay. I can probably sort most other things out with enough dedication but replacement parts would be preferable.

I’m in British Columbia, Canada, but I’m happy to cover shipping costs if you find some good stuff lying around

Hello! Hope you're well. Just wondering if you happen to have a 5 spoke rear wheel for an xj700s. One of the ones that looks like the front but more squat. Thanks for your time!

Seeking parts for 1982 xj650 Maxim I'm restoring, with low-budget constraint this time around:

    RH tank emblem
LH emblem too if it's nicer than the "crusty" one I have (see attached)
Fork emblem if the chrome is good, to replace the one I have which is primer black.

Maybe this will help with your tank emblem search.
I started this barn find in may 24
Rattle can paint and found emblems on eBay 11.00$ only catch is they were stick on,
So I had to drill them out myself.
I can try to search if you would like.
    Good luck with your project

Hi @hogfiddles . My xj650 Seca build back is lacking a pair of grab handles - I think they were chrome, just under the seat? Got a pair? It will mean posting to the UK so if you don't want the hassle I will understand.
PM me @minimuttly if you want.

Recently my younger brother crashed my 1983 xj750 maxim into a ditch (he is doing ok), and the entire right side of the bike is destroyed. (Motor is still fine thankfully)
I was wondering if you had any of these items for sale:
    • Front Brake Master Cylinder and Lever
    • Gas Tank
    • Gauge Cluster (Tachometer got completely destroyed, so I'll need an exact replacement)
    • Rear Grab Bar (Just the bit covered in the rubber material)

It ended up flipping completely and flattening the handlebar, tank, gauges and grab bar. I haven’t seen any frame damage or warps, so I think the frame is still in good condition, I just can’t ride it until I find some parts

    Hi Dave,

This is probably a longshot, I was wondering if you have the 1982 XJ650 maxim engine or similar that I can swap mine into.

You want to swap something into the engine? Anything in an ‘82-83 650 maxim engine with fit in another ‘82-‘83 650 maxim engine. Most ‘80-81 parts will, too, but there are some differences.

do you mean “do I have any ‘82-83 engines? “. Yes, probably do.

Let me know what you mean, and I’ll look.

Other than the cams, what are the differences between a seca and maxim 550 engine, exactly? After 115,000 km, I'm having issues with my seca engine but have a line on a maxim 550 engine, plus I have another 550 seca engine but with damaged heads and damaged cylinders. I read somewhere that the maxim engine has a lower compression ratio, is that true? Are maxim and seca heads the same with the only difference being cams, or is a maxim head, valve train and/or pistons all different to account for the compression ratio difference?

NOTE: in the truest hot-rod tradition, people sometimes inquire as to camshaft specifications and interchange. We have compiled the following information for your reading pleasure:

    XJ550 Maxim:

    Intake Lift: 6.80mm
    Exhaust Lift: 6.80mm

    Duration: not given

    Overlap: not given

    XJ550 Seca:

    Intake Lift: 7.80mm
    Exhaust Lift: 7.10mm

    Duration: not given

    Overlap: not given

    a) XJ550 Maxim and Seca cams can be swapped between these engines (but not with any of the 650-up engines). The 550 Seca cams are "hotter", they have more lift, and probably also have increased duration and possibly overlap.

Here are all the different stock carb specs (carb model numbers, jet sizes, tune-up info, etc.) consolidated into one happy little group of information, so you can print this out easily when you are working on your particular set.
