Ok which way are the seals supposed to go on? i have tried 2 different ways that i thought were correct and they turned out not to be.. first one was the smaller side of the taper on both pointing towards the spring and now the one in the picture... could really use some help because the master cylinder and acting like it won't pump like it should and this is a new rebuild kit

Thats correct. Flared larger OD towards the fluid. Bleeding a system after disassembly on these can be difficult. See other recent threads about difficult bleeding.
