    Ron,
So you's guys had a good day then? I was watching the weather (we had rain here in the AM) and it just didn't look too good for riding. But by around 10 the sun came out and it turned to be a pretty good day. We got stuff done anyways.
I came home later this afternoon and rode a bit and it turned out to be a fairly nice day to ride. I guess if I'd been around early enough I would've rode down there and shot the bull with ya.
Oh well, next time I guess. Let me know when you getting together again and I'll try to make it then. Dave >PD<

id like to make the next one maybe too. Maybe I could bring the bike and see If you can help me diagnose my spark problem if I cant by then. Everything checks out, turns over with lots of power, gas in the carbs/cylinders. I haven't looked at the pickups yet but i think I might wed.

I'd like to see the write-up on the 550 carbs too, thatd help me for sure.

now that I got my bike running(kinda) It will need a good carb rebuild/cleaning So I'm down to make it to the next one you guys have. Would it be a good idea to bring the whole bike, or could I get away with just brining the carbs?

    Mm-Maxim,
Sorry I couldn't make it yesterday. I ended up tearing the entire front end off the bike (wheel, forks, etc.) and re-doing some of my wiring that needed some attention. I figured as long as I'm working on it I might add the fork boots I bought a couple weeks ago (just for the hell of it) and a pair of LED driving lights I want to try out.
About the time I was ready to take it out for a short ride, it was raining here. Hope to see you next weekend! >PD<

We ended up working on the #2 XJ1100 and a 2001 1100 V-Star needed and oil change. What pain that was. We had to take the front exhaust pipe and foot rest loose to get at the oil filter. Was just a good day to hang around and get some maintenance done.

I'm working on my #1 1100 for next weekend. I have to pull the carbs and I'm going to check the valves and change oil. See you guys next weekend for our little road trip.

I can't figure out why Yamaha didn't change that design on those V-Stars a long time ago. The 650 is the same and you'd think when they came out with the 1100, they would've made it easier to get at the filter without having toremove the exhaust pipe. No, they came out with a filter re-locator kit (about $200) instead. What a scam.
I almost bought a V-Star until I found out about the filter problem, then I decided to get the 1100 Honda Shadow instead. And I'm glad I did.

I just picked up an Ultra Sonic cleaner from Harbor Freight. Works great So if you want to strip your carbs and come over you are welcome to use it.

yeah count me out on this one sorry. It came up to soon. I need to get my bike in tip top shape for the season. But I'd like to go on a couple this summer.

Yeah maybe I'll pull them and take them over and try it out. They seem pretty good but It just might need a little cleaning to get the floats working better etc. Also I may need a new petcock or new seal in it or whatever. seems to leak a little even when in on position. I'll let you know when I maybe will stop by. thanks!

    This sucks!
I am not riding in the morning now. I had something that needs my attention and won't be here in the morning.
I'll make sure I make it to the next ride for sure.
You guys go ahead without me and have a good run. I've just got a problem that needs my undivided attention right now. Thanks for understanding. PD

We have another successful carb session done and Kyrrinstoch's 550 Seca is a runner. I took it for a spin and it runs mint. This one worked out so well since we were the only two at the last carb clinic. I was able to teach one on one. He also synced the carbs on the bike and it needed very little adjustment.

I'm going to try another Clinic here in June. Order your parts and let me know when you guys are ready.

    MN

PS I will be in my shop working on a few bikes. I have an air box to install, Carbs on another 750, 2nd gear on that 1100 (I have been stalling on this one) Fork seals on my 650. Stop by and see whats up.
