    UPDATE:
So far there are 13 riders that are on the list for the ride on the 16th. There are 6 riders from another forum, (where this ride originated from) and 6 riders from this XJ forum, so it'll be a good turnout.
Of course there may be a few riders that backout at the last minute because of weather and I just hope I'm not one of them! It rained last year and I had to cancel twice last year (sorry, I won't ride 90 miles in the rain to meet for a ride)
Hopefully I can post more information on our destination route some time this week. If not, we'll just have to wing it and get lost in the bluff country for the day (works for me)
We'll be stopping for gas about every 100 miles or so (some need to get off and stretch anyways) and probably stop at some of the scenic over-looks to shoot the breeze
We'll stop to eat along the way, but where is anyones guess. We'll just cross that bridge when we get to it.
You'll find out that we never have any real "established" route when we ride and never know just where we might end up. But it's always fun and we have a good time. We try to make it back to the cities by 5-6 or so. If anyone has to be back earlier than that, we can shorten the ride to accomidate.
That's it for now. Any questions? You know where to find me (or PM me)I'll check back every day (after work) to see if there are any other issues we need to address then. >PD<

    Another UPDATE:
Here'a a route we can take if anyone is interested. I believe we took it before some years back and it has alot of scenery and good roads.
You can blow it up to get a better idea where is goes. We don't have to go the exact route, but just an idea. Just so we can find gas and food along the way. >PD<

Route didn't really show more than a Hastings location. (Weather Permitting) I will ride around with the group before it turns back to the Cities. I live south of Rochester.

That map does who the entire route. You just have to go back to see the bigger picture and the route is highlighted in blue. Like I said, it's not etched in stone where we go or what route we take. It's just an idea from a ride we took a few years ago.

I will start out with the group at McDonalds. I am riding up to the cities and staying with my dad on Friday evening. I might ride a little ways north on the Wisconsin side, but then I will swing back home.

I have never really been on a group ride larger than three-- so it will be a new experience. I'm looking forward to meeting y'all. My Seca has been running perfectly. :D

Try this link for the route:
    http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source= ... 8&t=h&z=10

The route I have is down the Wisconsin side, but, it doesn't have to me.

Starting in Hastings, we head down MN316 and join up US61 just west of Red Wing.

We take US61 from Red Wing south through Frontenac, Lake City (good place to stop and stretch and flush and fill (so to speak)) down to Wabasha.

We cross the Mississippi River in Wabasha heading to Nelson WI on WI 25.

In Nelson, we turn north on WI 35 heading to Pepin and Stockholm. Stockholm is a nice little place and there is a great place there for Pie.

Continuing north on WI35 we go through Maiden Rock, Bay City and Hager City. For those who need to head back, you can cut over on US63 and get back to Red Wing. Otherwise, continuing on WI35 we head to Diamond Bluff on our way to Prescott WI.

In Prescott, we cross back over to MN and then can double back to Hastings on 10/61. Or head north to the cities on 10/61.

The ride is 3 hours from Hastings to Hastings. Not counting potty breaks, food stops and such.

    Dan

I've got leather gloves, coat and helemt with face sheild. Not a problem as far as riding is concerned. Its going to chilly in the AM for sure. Its going to be in the 40's when we get going. Just wonder if we are going to loose some more of the group due to the cold.

Magic eight ball says--- maybe. I am a little on the fence-- We are having a light cool rain down here (near Rochester) and I am not looking forward to riding up to the cities, followed by a cold ride tomorrow. If I am not there, don't wait for me. I pm'd my cell number to PainterD for the next one.

I did not make the trip up--- predictions of thunderstorms and hail. Bummer. I'll try to make the next one-- although it sounds like most of us are calling it.

    So...
Did anyone show up for the ride? I can't say I'd blame you if you didn't. It was cold, damp and windy as hell here yesterday morning. The dog never even stayed out very long when I let her out!
It looks like it's be a couple weeks before I set up another ride. Next weekend is Memorial Day and most do family stuff that weekend (or so it's been that case in the past) and the weekend of the 30th, we have a family get gathering (woopee) and they would like me there (?)
So, I guess it'll be Saturday, June 6th before I'm available to ride with the group. I'll make some phone calls and see if enough are interested for that day in a couple weeks then. >PD<

I had an early morning service call and the bank sign said 37 deg F. I was glad that I was not on the bike.

I went for a ride in the afternoon. And, it was cold and windy.

Now today would have been a wonderful day for that ride.
