Nice one Mark.... I'm looking at doing similar on my 650 because a PO already chopped the frame

When I shortened the frame on mine, I used a 7" boat trailer fender and it fit perfect between the frame rails. I didn't know it at the time I bought mine, but there are bobbed boat fenders that look pretty good on the back also. They are long enough to leave as they are or cut them to length if you want the bobbed look. You can find them at Northern tool for $26 which is pretty cheap for a nice thick steel fender. Mine is for a 15" wheel which is the perfect radius for over the back wheel.
I think the stock seat is way too long for the short wheel base of these bikes. With a solo seat and shorter rear fender, it really makes the bike look like a custom.
