Also really worried about the travel on the front wheel and the cooler/turbo. Assuming you've double checked the clearance?

It's tight. I might need to cut the rear side of the front fender to gain clearance for the intercooler. The turbo is good on the clearance. I moved the oil cooler under the bike towards the rear wheel.

Awesome, I found this thread by chance when I first joined the board and I am mighty impressed.
Out of curiosity, are you going to refinish the rest of the engine? From the photos, its looks like the cylinder bank has oil stains on it, and it'd be a shame to have the stainless plumbing for the turbo sitting next to a dirty engine.

I won't speak for skylrk62 as I don't know his plans (for all I know he's a "go > show" guy like I am). What I do know is that cosmetics are the very last thing that get done (if the builder knows how to do the job right).

Oh, I am a function before form guy myself, but I have see too many "rat" bike-wannabes that are built by design to look like they got pulled out of a rock quarry. If the entire bike looks well worn and used, cool, but putting new stainless plumbing on top of an oily mess looks a bit shabby. IMHO, of course.

No need to worry about the bike's looks. This thing is going have a showroom finish. I have to get all the engineering done first before I touch this beast with paint. I'll get everything working right, then break it all down and paint it. I promise, it won't disappoint you.

Yeah, it won't if you know what's good for you!

Seriously, this project is inspirational, I am amazed at what you've done so far. I am trying to go pick up an XJ700 today and want to go somewhere along the lines of the old TZ750 that Kenny Roberts raced, so this has a lot of relevant mods that may cross over.

Thank you. Sometimes, I feel like this project has turned into a monster that feeds on itself and I'm in way over my head. But, I think the end result will be something special and that's worth it to me. I'm glad To be able to inspire others like so many have inspired me. I'd love to see new innovation come from this site.

I bought mine on Ebay from Poland. They never offered the XJ900F in North America from my understanding. Finding one here stateside could be a challenge.

I know it's been a while, but perfection takes time. Ha! The turbo is starting to take shape. Still got a ways to go. I'll keep you guys updated as things progress.

Modifying the tank to hide the cold air intake tube. Oil cooler was relocated in front of rear wheel.

Is the intake going to be hidden inside of the tank? It would be more work, and cost you some fuel volume, but it would look amazing.

I cut a channel on bottom right side of the fuel tank so I didn't have to wrap around the engine and go over top. It will still show, but it will look more compact. My goal is to have a "factory look" fit, if possible.
