yeah it is not that hard to get the new title. I just saw the bike and was like hmm that big engine I picked up for a good price would make a nice back-up option for that interesting bike.

I was looking to see how far it was for me as well. Then I remembered I have a 86 FJ1200 I am working on and thought...not at this time.

So now that I have decided that I am going to have to complete a full tear down of the engine what modifications would be wise to do while I am going through it? I figure that since I am going to have it all apart I should put it back together with more power than it had when it last ran. I am open to suggestions with in reason. I plan on taking the forks apart and rebuilding them as well.

Well I popped the head off to take a look. The gasket is shot and the sleeves are dry rotted. Thankfully it looks like the cylinder walls look good. It also looks like the rings are holding pressure. Though there was a lot of debry in the chambers.

I continued looking into the motor last night. It does not look good for me. I guess it is time to start hunting a new motor. I started reading the thread about swapping in a larger motor onto the bike. I am thinking that I will start to source an xj750 motor. looked at ebay and found a couple.

Is anyone in WI area have an extra motor with good compression that I could pick up?

I never know what I am getting when I look at ebay and I don't want to spend the money to find out they are selling me a piece of junk.

    any assistance would be great.

I really want to get out and start riding this thing but keep finding more wrong with it.

Send me a PM and we will chat. I personally don't have an extra engine laying around but I may be able to put some feelers out and find one

Way to get into that top end. :) So if you got new rings, did a quick hone of the cylinders and cleaned up the head, you should be good? What else did you find wrong that makes you think you have to find another engine?

it is having issues shifting, I am fairly certain that the pieces from that valve cover retainer that covers the cam got into the gears. also I think it would probably be cheaper for me to just get a complete running motor and drop it in than to throw money at a maybe.
