Good point and I have to agree especially in regard to the chain.

From the "before" pics it looks like that chain is severely rusted. When that happens, the bearing surfaces of the pins and rollers become compromised, and the chain will quickly fail once put back in service.

    Please replace the chain.

    Hello,
    Nice rd's
    I have four myself.
I thought it might interest you to know that banshee pistons
Will fit right in and are a lot cheaper and easier to find.
You MUST trim the skirt in back or it will catch on the intake port.
you can google how to do it.
    Enjoy.
    Joe

lol I don't like to get dirty when things go back together. Chain and sprockets will be coming after the motor gets broken in sometime next year. I have to see if i have to change gearing for the mods So i could not see buying all of it if i need to change gearing would be a waste of money right now.
Finished the forks and gators started on the front wheel bike is almost done.

Getting close. Front signals fork ears headlamp bucket all that is left to polish. Will crank it up in a week or so still have to paint tank emblems also. Was very happy bought a rebuilt caliper ss line attached to a new master for $40.00 off ebay works perfect. Much better then 114 mc 150 caliper 60 ss line.

Looking forward to cranking it up this weekend. Bought new expansion chambers for it to put on at a later date. Ordered my 357cc parts for my 250 need to put crank seals in it have to pull the motor to do it i figured what the heck. Soon as this one is done will start the port work on the other. It wont take that long to split the cases put new seals in ect. 41 years old now bad things happen when a seal goes bad seize up or they are even known to rev sky hi and when kill the ignition it keeps running to fuel runs out. Then i can finish the maxim x carbs

It runs have a float sticking have to pull the carb to fix it. Guess i will screw in the 220 mains and put the new chambers on it this weekend. A few pics in the garage Can't wait till the sun comes out take some good pics. Total investment is $950 not bad for a 41 year old bike with 5100 miles. All my parts are here to make my rd250 a 357 cc racer have to start on the port work after i finish this this weekend.
