    What’s up guys, I have a 1982 xj650 w/ 6k miles. I bought it from someone who said it ran before tear down. Starter button works (red oil light comes on when clicked), neutral light on, and all lights working. Just put a brand new battery. The bike is not turning over, looking for thoughts and opinions. Thanks!

    Welcome to the forum. Lots of reading on here to find out. Not to sure on your mechanical background or how long the bike has been sitting. You mentioned a "rear down" so is this a ground up rebuild or at what level of "tear down" was the bike?

    Have to tried to bypass the solenoid yet? Turning the key on and then jumping the two positive contacts across the solenoid with a old screwdriver or old pliers. That will removed the push button ckt and you will be able to tell of the engine will turn over when the starting is in action.
