I like that bar behind your seat, where did you get it?

eBay. It's a GSM 'Sportrack' an '80s period accessory. The company, while not out of business, no longer makes motorcycle racks. I was lucky to find it.

Yamaha also offered a "factory" sport rack, slightly longer than the GSM, but due to the fact that they were like twice the money, they're rarer yet. I had one on my '80 SR500.

I have been running approximately six psi in my '82 650 Maxim with good results if this helps, I'm 6'3".

Yes it helps, gives me an idea of what pressure to run without blowing by the seals.
Still need to find out if the 82 fork cap with the air valve will fit in my 81,
If so I will be on the hunt.
    Thanks for the info, bill207

    Beautiful seat and bike,
My seat had just been re covered when I bought it, would hate to re cover again. not nearly as sharp as yours. I love the roll and pleat nostalgic look.

After researching the total tire diameters form the 750 Seca wheel & tire 120/80/18 and the 650 Maxim 130/90/16, The seca wheel & tire is less than
3/8 of an inch greater in diameter and if you split that in half it will only give you a little more than 1/8 of an inch more seat height, although the small difference would give you more speed for the same RPM.

Has any body ran a 120/90/18 tire on their Seca or Maxim ? If it would clear the drive shaft housing it would give you even a higher speed to rpm and over 1/2 an inch taller seat height.

I do have a set of 13 1/2 inch eye to eye shocks coming and will let you guys
know how all that works out.

I would still consider running a 120/90/18 wheel and tire on my 650 Maxim
if it would clear and if the engine could handle the taller ratio.

longer shocks and bigger rear tyre will not help ya. the distance between the seat and the peg will still be the same as they are fixed points on the same fixed frame, longer shocks will lift the rear of the bike but will not change the distance between the pegs and the seat.

You are going to have to move the pegs or lift/pack out the seat

Installed new 13 1/2 " Sportster shocks today, with some modification they went on just fine. Still waiting on new rear brakes and tire, will let you know
    how the shocks ride.
Next step will be to fill in the traditional "scoop" (The bigfitz mod ) as brockzila
and bigfitz had the right idea about what I wanted to accomplish.
