New XJ 750 guy in North Dallas area

    Figured I'd introduce myself, been lurking the forum since last week. I purchased an '83 XJ 750 last Tuesday that needs some new life. I am finding new small issues everyday and I have to say I'm stumped right as to what I need. Here are some pictures:

    WELCOME from TN! How was it running before you tore it down? What kind of problems are you having? What direction do you want to go with it? What kind of experience do you have with bikes? You need to ask more direct questions rather than "what do I need"...

    It cranked and started with carb cleaner but the fuel tank was not connected since it needed a good cleaning. I sanded down the tank and found many pin holes in it so that is getting repaired now. Main problems I am having is with the carbs and the front end. The bearings in the triple tree have flat spots, the forks need new seals or rebuilt. I have considered swapping out the triple trees with the ones from an R6 since they will work with different bearings which will give me more fork options. My main issue is the carbs, I am going with a pod filter setup and yes I have read the pros and cons and I'm willing to risk it. The carb issue is the diapghram rings, mine were cracked and broken so I need to replace just that ring but I can not find a replacement for them. Everything I see wants to sell the whole diapghram which I don't need. The main and pilot jet upgrade I can get from chacal I guess.

    That fairing looks like the one I recently restored. Came out good. Now i'm just trying to figure mounting. It came with the top bars but no bottom mounts...
