Hello, my name is Scott or 3Phase. After literally years of trying off and on again to register for this site it finally worked and, well, here I am!

    I just bought my second '82 XJ1100 Maxim. It's a one-owner bike and I can tell you it's a real beas^Huty!
It can be fixed easiliy enough but it was a very exciting when I discovered that the center stand had been broken off the left-hand side of the frame!

I'm working with Chacal to replace some of the consumable brake parts and add braided stainless steel brake hoses. I have some work to do because I'm planning to ride it back East from California to Stecoah, North Carolina and attend what will be my second XSSE Rally: the 15th Annual XS South East rally at the Iron Horse Lodge.

My first XJ11 was a wreck I bought as a parts bike. The PO was alright but his bike was cracked in half like an egg shell when it was spit like a watermelon seed out from under a car and sailed into the freeway guardrail sans rider at ~70MPH. It had to be loaded onto a truck with a forklift to get it home because the wheels were bent and transmission was snapped away and completely separated from the engine, it was only held in place by the Primary Chain and a few scraps of the oil pan. It fell in two pieces when I cut it out of the frame.

The only riding my first XJ has done since then is vicariously through Columbo, my "Just one more thing!" 1980 XS1100G. We've done many miles together, currently down for a third engine rebuild with the original case along with a complete overhaul of the rest of the bike. It's a well-deserved break no matter what I may call it.

So, it's nice to meet y'all and finally have the opportunity and the ability to interact with some of the members whose posts I've been reading for close to a decade now! o_O
