One of the sneakiest problems that can be treated pretty easily is:
The "erosion" of the Spark Plug Wire Core at the end due to "Pulling-off" the Plug Caps.

The Core gets eaten-up and a major resistance can form.

Trimming-back the ends might not work because any shorter and they wont reach.

If you don't want to do the "Coil Surgery" and replace the Wires, ... Insert a short length of bare Solid Core copper wire up into the end of the Plug Wire. Put a "Double" 1-Inch collar of Heat Shrink on the Plug Wire.

Screw the Plug Cap in and make good contact.

    Hi all
The pick ups may be the way to go for you, i had the same problems with my 1100 maxim, i checked evarything you have checked, decided to look at evarything that had a current, ended up at the pick ups, on close inspection i noticed a small whole in one of then so i replaced them, this made it better but didnt resolve the problem, the firering became more random, went fron 2 to 4 to 3 and so on, the last thing left to check was the ignition unit, i was told that they either work or they dont work at all but these was just words, i took a unit of a friends xj 1100, she roard loud and ticked over a treat, all cylinders was firering and she was running better than i remember she used to run last year. im not sure if the 750 runs on the same pick ups ass the 1100 maxim, but i think it does have a ignition unit that is allmost the same, maybe mounted under the seat.
I hope this helps you, they are expensive to replace, mine was second hand and cost £110, i think thats about $170
I hope you get it working soon
