One black plug -

    I checked my plugs today and one was pretty sooty. The rest were tannish/gray.The plugs only have 500 miles on them, so I brushed the black one clean, turned in the air mixture screw 1/2 turn and put the plug back in. Can anyone give me a guesstimate about how many miles I'll have to put on the bike in order to figure out if I've adjusted it enough? Or, another way of putting it - how many miles would it take to start showing carbon again if it's still running rich, I'd use a colour tune - but I don't have one and don't know of anyone with one.     You can buy a colortune plug from Len at xj4ever, E-mail info@xj4ever.com. This is going to be your most accurate means of setting your carbs. I have been told that your plugs will visually tell there story at around 100 miles if they aren't set correctly. Hope this helps.
