I am glad everything worked out very strange tho. A mac exhaust does not flow any better then the factory but sounds much better. Pods usually loose low end torque but its a possibility when it hits it stride it seems like it pulls harder. I have been around dynos all my life and have never seen very good power numbers on cv carbs with pods. But maybe you got lucky. No manner if its any faster or not as long as it sounds good any your happy with the vacuum cleaner noise coming from the carbs lol that is all that matters. Me personally i put a header on my maxim x just because i love the sound. Ditched the pods right now it has a pvc airbox with 2 foam filters its a better then just pods but still not like the factory airbox with a k@n in it. When i finish the carbs i will go thru the hassle of putting the air box back in. Best of luck and enjoy it looking forward to the dyno sheets.
I was lucky when they did my v max they kept changing jets air jets baffles ect it took tnt performance 29 dyno runs to get it all sorted out. Still wasn't happy down low and it had airbox modified but it made most power in this trim so i left it alone

I know what you mean and I was expecting worse low-end performance, however, it actually performs a lot better at low RPM than it used to, I am very surprise.

I think these modifications go case-by-case. Probably the previous owner didn't do anything on the bike and probably when I got it the bike didn't run as well as it should - that's why now I think it runs awesome. It is possible it doesn't run as well as a well maintained stock XJ650, I can't tell, I've never been on another Maxim...

I heard no mention of Dyno Results, Plug Chops, or even a Colortune. "Watch" your plugs. Post your chops.
Something doesnt sound right to me. If you dont keep an eye on it, you may not have a bike sometime soon

Plugs look okay so far and unfortunately I haven't had the time for a dyno run. Hopefully it will be done in the next 2 weeks while I have an access to a free dyno.

I will probably buy new plugs for a plug chop soon as well. Last year's plugs won't tell much...
