i've got an 82 xj650. the problem is after it's been sitting for a while it seems like the battery is going dead when i try to start. i end up jumping it off to get it started. once it is started and warmed up it will run fine. if i shut it off for a few minutes and go back it starts with no problem. but if it sits for more than an hour or 2 i end up needing a jump. does the battery need to be replaced or charged. i haven't had a chance to check the water level yet but will later on. any other ideas? also it seems like this started since the weather started cooling down. thanks.

Best thing to do is pull the battery and check the fluid level. If it is low that would explain the problem. Fill it with distilled water and charge it if you have a charger.

You may also have a parasitic draw on the battery. If topping off the battery doesn't help, pm me and I'll explain how to test for that.
