Ken I have paid from $40 to $180, like most things you get what you pay for, this one was a $180 job & worth every cent.

Yes, but you have to plug every hole, but if any of the medium gets into the bores it just dissipates when it gets hot, I stuff strips of oily rag in the ports. After the blasting just pressure wash the residue off.

thanks wiz, will look into it in brissy, my own build has hit a snag, we are selling our little house in the bush to use as a good deposit on a house in brisbane,so while we are in "save as money as we can mode" i dont think my wife would be thrilled to see me spending money on the bike till we are settled in, such is life, looking forward to watching you 1100 come back to life, good luck

It's a beautiful thing! Great work!
I really like the workbench... my knees and back hate me for working on mine.

You know Polock, that"s the weirdest thing, I went back & looked at the frame again, after seeing that picture & there's nothing there, go figure, Perhaps I've got an x-ray camera. ;o)

If you shine a very bright light on it, you can read "CAUSEWAY YAMAHA"
& whatdayaknow, it's still in buisiness

Don't you just love the NON-swirly wheels? I've always been a big fan of Yamaha's straight-spoked mags, both of my SR500s had them and the 550 Secas have a variant as well.

Beautiful, meticulous work as usual, good sir.

You gonna maybe hang onto this one and ride it for a while, or is that what the 900 is for? You sold that XS, didn't you?

The XS650 made $6k so it had to go, I'm going to ride this one for a bit, then maybe choose between it & the 900 which one to move on.

Damn. Maybe we should do the "shipping container full of XS650s" thing after all.

You'll keep the 900, but enjoy this one too. Back in the day, I had the opportunity to get some saddle time on an "Excess Eleven." The ungawdly power is great; the ungainly weight not so much. But then again I'm the guy that whines about the shaft driven XJs all being unnecessarily overweight. Curbside, the XJ650R Seca weighs just about as much as the 2011 XJR1300. And you know how I feel about that CHAIN DRIVEN classic in its own time. (Rat b*st*rd Ozzies, anyway.)

You'll keep the 900. What you REALLY need is a Royal Blue 2005 XJR1300, with nice dual mufflers and a proper round headlight. Then you can let me ride it if I ever make it down there.
