Naw, honestly I'm just jealous. Wish I had nothing to do all day except rebuild old bikes and try to keep from irritating the other half. While dwelling in paradise, weather-wise.

And to add insult to injury, you guys get the bikes we want.

Take a small, sharp flat file to the edges of the fins on the cylinders if you wanna make 'em really pop...

Yep. You've seen my bike so I won't post another pic unless you want. They really stand out and stay shiny for an amazingly long time. It's gotta be a sharp file (or fine wet sandpaper) so you don't "crumble" the paint at the edges but it really looks neat. I found that the file smooths out some of the roughness inherent in the casting and gives them a sharper look.

Love what you're doing Wiz! It's amazing to go back to page 1 and see the progress from that pile of bike spaghetti. Makes me wish I lived in Melbourne so I could come by and watch it all go down. Thanks for the pics and inspiration.

    Really like those pipes too!

Sump plug wasn't holding & it was already oversize.
Fix: tapped the sump for a 3/8" BSP tapered brass plug, drilled & tapped the plug for an 8mm piggy back bolt.
The brass plug gets loctited & the oil drained through the piggy. Fingers xed.[IMG]

Awesome work as usual Wiz. Can I ask why you decided to reverse the shifter lever?

I've been contemplating an XS1100 Midnight by my place for $275 that's been sitting for 12 years and this thread makes me want it even more!

I had the rear light carrier, grab rail, meter cases & shock springs re-chromed, the rest I have just polished.
