okay guys.. Quick question in elimination a problem. Today I finally welded up my battery box on my bobber. AFTER welding, and before stuffing everything back together i had the bike running for the first time this year.. Well, I didnt have it running long enough to keep it idling off of choke... Bolted everything up and now the bike doesnt seem to be firing.. and of course i ran the battery dry trying. Basically the only thing i touched after welding was the battery and the rectifier.. since the start was firing and it just wasnt turning over Im curious whats the problem.. pulled the spark plugs and they were diff wet from maybe too much starting.. Does the rectifier have anything to do with starting? Starter was fine, just wouldn't turn over. went out and got some starting fluid and got the battery back on charger and will start again tomorrow. Just need to not if the rectifer has anything to do with the starting process really. Wet plugs surely didn't help anything. Thanks..

If you have ran the battery low the TCI will shut down go below 11 volts ...at idle the charging system does not put alot , above 2000rpm is where it kicks in . Wet plugs can mean you are way rich. Or your jetting is too much I'm assuming you are running pods :mad:this is one of the problems with them . You need to ride it about 10 to 15 miles then do a plug reading to really see. I doubt you have a rectifier problem but do this check voltage before starting 12 v start bike up.should go up to 13 v on a volt meter then charging system is working . If not start chasing wires before shelling out money and replacing parts. Keep us informed ...:D

you can test the rectifier with diode test on multimeter

Issue was the plugs.. wouldn't start again, tried some starting fluid and nothing.. only had two spare plugs so changed out two of them and it fired right up. The must have been fouled from winter and then the poor start without letting it come to temps earlier. At least problem solved
