you most likely have leaky valve seals in that cyl. And you either have gunk between your needle and seats on the carbs, or a carb floats with holes, or the float hight needs to be set, probly a combination of all 3

thats not all that bad on mine i had the following problems(cb750):
    1. backpressuring on cylinder 1 through carbs
    2. bad charging system
    3. hard time finding 3rd gear
    5. turn signals where not working at all
    6. cylinder 4 fired every once in a while making large popping noises
    7. someone had tryed to modify and failed to modify the wireing harness
    8. numerous PO stupid things done to it
so after figuring out all that was wrong with it i threw in the towel, a week later i bought the XJ and am glad i did

well here's somewhat of an update:
my engine problems will be fixed, er well taken to be fixed after bike week in daytona, thats where the guy is going, then he can wrench.
I plan to go over to his house as much as i can to help and watch.

Also, i've decided to take the emblems off my side cover... after i made a boo-boo, and i also cant seem to get the primer to stick very well to the emblems.....
so these are my thoughts... either have a solid black side cover, or have a red stripe down it with the pinstriping. or have "HONDA" written in it.. or "Custom" in red cursive... maybe 750 too.. cuz our local graphics guy can make me any sticker, and ill use that to paint the emblem.

any thoughts on what i should throw on? I may jsut end up having him make a sticker of the origional emblem... not sure.

yet another pictureless post, sorry guys, but i bought this on ebay,http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270349197583&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT&viewitem=
just thinking it would look nice on my covers, and its an almost exact fit i hope., and then i got to thinking, hmm, if i cut out the plastic behind where the vents go, and throw in some of my LED lights, it would look pretty cool, really cool, especially if i tossed some wires behind there, or something....futuristic..... it would look pretty cool it would be red LED's

I know im wrecking these covers by doing that.... but i dont care really,
im just looking for some ideas,

also, I looked forever at the emblems on my cover trying to figure out where these ring/pins were that hold on the cover.... then i found out the emblem was either jb welded or glued on.... so they both were taken off at some point and my bike was probably repainted.

so I'm giving away these emblems... they are just gold in color, one's got primer on it, and the plastic shafts are broken off, so you would need to glue them to what ever you are putting them on.

Well i did some things to the bike today because I didnt have to work or do my online clss heres some things i did
    1. replaced needles and cleaned seats on carbs
    2. cut the holes in my side covers for the chrome vents
    3. sanded the bondo o nmthe side covers and rear fender, i think im done with that.

    4. installed the carbs and got the biek running again

Heres a video of it running wtih the new custom tank. Also, I magically lost 12 header nuts, so i only have 1 nut per header.... the number one cylinder is still an oil well. but daytona bike week ends tomorrow, so I should be able to take my bike to get fixed on tuesday, and clearcoated wednesday.

I don't know if It's because it's inside or what, but the bike sounded really good in the video.

Ok well heres some pics i promised.
    1. These are The Pipes i got for free, well 2 of them, the otehr set looks just like them, but they're only 1/2 as long. Can you guys tell me what harley they are from? i want to put on Long one on my bike, make and adapter for the 4 into 1, and this think will really have a nostalgic look to it.
    2. This is the hole I cut into both of my sode covers
    3. This is what i'm putting over the holes, and behind the holes are going to be red LED's

ok well heres a pretty good update with lots of pictures. i'm doing cosmetic stuff because i'm waiting on engines and whatnot.

here are my bitchin decals, they were gold, used some aircraft remover and got it down to this nice aluminum, i then painted them black, and meticously used the RickCoMatic method to remove the paint on the wing and lettering, I did this twice because i wanted two coats and wasn;t sure how easy the old coat would come off if it were allowed to dry. So i exhausted my moms suply of q-tips and shop towells to get it lookin good. then I sprayed 2 coats of that clear engine enamel on it, looks good.
and then the otehr pictures are of my $40 clear coat job, my friend did it, was soo happy with the price, was ready to dish out 100 bucks. as you can see i hav ethose chrome vents on the side covers, and i'm ging to rig up some LED's to run all the time behaind them. i'm also thinking of fiding some cheap mirrors I can break or cut or soemthing behind them to reflect it better and hide the inards. Lets jsut hope I dont get 7 years of bad luck :D. Then next pic is of hwo the bike sits now, she's lost alot of weight, too much.
Oh ya, the last pics are of the "new" exhaust system, I have these fishtail harley mufflers I got for free, 2 sets. I lvoe them, the long ones havent ever been used. i bought an adapter, and im ready to throw it on, althugh the mufflers are made to be used together, so it should be used on a 4-2 exhaust, but I ahve a 4-1, so we'll see if it makes it run rich, if so maybe I can throw on some pods  .

It's looking good. I really like that paint job and the emblems look great. I don't usually see those pipes on stock harleys, I think they are aftermarket ones (big money). and they seem to be the right price (free). keep up the good work. Let's see some pictures once you get all the tins on.

Thanks for sharing the JD bikes. The first one is a little over the top with detail. Johnny Popper engine cowl and especially the fenders! Ribbed in front and lugged in back. The one with the 8' tall grasshopper leg handlebars is pretty nice too.

Great job on your ride too, Schooter!
