    @jag3. The gasket just keeps water and dust out. It's quite likely that you can even reuse the one you have.

    I don’t have any sharp edge difficulties with the zip ties. I prefer that method... I tape two together, shorten one a little bit and the other shorter yet. Then curl them a bit— the longer one act like a feeler to guide them both into the valve.

    Glue the gasket to the cover with high-tack spray gasket sealer, smear a thin amount of silicone grease or even motor oil on the other side and don't overtighten the screws. You can get 3+ uses of the gasket that way.
