Finnaly got my bike started with a few emails floating back and foward.

I never realised there is a drain port at the bottom of the carbs so when I finaly opend these I got 2 years worth of gunk out of them. So now she finnaly fires up.

Only thing is when she starts she runs on full revs then cuts out. Checked throttle and choke cables and they seam to operate ok, so i am assuming that something must be stuck in the carbs.

Still this proves the enigine will run so I am happy to start restoring her to her former glory. Compleate strip down, powder coat the frame then start rebuild.

All being well aim to have her back on the road this time next year

 

If you are getting "gunk" out of the carbs by draining the float bowls then you have bigger issues to deal with deeper inside the carbs. You likely still have some fine sediment sitting in the bowls and the fuel jets are probably gummed up a bit. The slide piston could be all gummed up too and the pilot ports clogged.

Long story short - you need to do a complete carb cleaning. It will likely fix a lot of the running issues and then you can start to tweak!

 

Ditto what Fraps said, your pilot jets are plugged (to say the least). Going through the carbs is a painstaking, but not difficult, process. Be happy....it runs!
